The Northside Church of Christ will hold two teacher training seminars in preparation of implementing our new Bible Class Curriculum in January 2008. On Saturday September 15, David Holder of Ft. Worth will instruct our teachers in teaching methods and strategies for instructing children of all ages. David is the editor of the Shaping Hearts for God literature series which is the basis for the curriculum in our preschool through middle school age classes. David will conduct a three session seminar beginning at 10:00 A.M.
David Banning of Beaumont, TX will conduct a similar seminar on September 29. David is the author of the Get Them Talking series of Bible study guides developed for JH and SH students. These Bible study guides will be used in the new curriculum. The emphasis in this four session seminar will be upon strategies useful for these age groups, but teachers of all age groups will benefit from the study. During the seminar David will consider these four topics: An Effective Strategy, What’s Not Working, Effective Method’s for HS Students and Effective Methods for JH Students. The seminar will begin at 10:00 A.M.
The Northside Church of Christ is happy to once again have Chuck Durham of College Station, TX come to Carthage December 2 through 5 in order to preach Christ. Chuck is a West Texas native growing up on a farm near Hereford. He is a graduate of Adrian Public Schools and a 1980 graduate of Texas Tech. From 1980 to 1982 Chuck worked with Dee Bowman in the preacher training program at Southside in Pasadena. Since then Chuck has done successful work with churches in Longview, Coppell and Mexia, TX and Louisville, KY. Since 2006 Chuck has labored with the Twin City Church of Christ in Bryan-College Station. He makes his home in College Station with Wilna, his wife of 28 years, and son Jonathan (age 21).
This is Chuck’s second time to work with the Church in this kind of evangelistic effort and we are pleased to have this opportunity to hear him exalt Christ crucified to our friends and neighbors in Panola County. Join us in this wonderful time of praise, worship and Bible Study.
